Beauty Care Product Distribution
Beauty Care Product Distributor Overview
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the beauty supply industry is a six billion dollar a year industry that has grown by over 42% in the last five years. Beauty care product distribution is a wide spread industry that connects potential customers to products they desire. In a world where looks are more important than ever, beauty care distributors have been able to establish a niche and make a successful career out of selling beauty care products directly to spas, stores, and customers.
Beauty care product distributors are responsible for selling, developing, and marketing beauty care products to their clients. Almost all big name beauty brands use product distributors as a way to connect their products to their customers. Some of the big names include Avon, the Body Shop, Patti LaBelle, Adrien Arpel, Clinique, Flori Roberts, Gale Hayman, Color Me Beautiful, and Interface. Beauty care distributors must be experienced in their products, have excellent communication and people skills, and understand the market trends of the beauty industry. Most importantly, to become a successful beauty care product distributor, one must be truly passionate about the beauty industry and the products he or she is selling.
Beauty Care Product Distributor Education and Training
There are several different avenues to becoming a beauty care product distributor. Many companies prefer to hire distributors that have a cosmetology degree as a way to ensure their employees have a professional level of experience in the beauty industry. Further, according to the American Association of Cosmetology Schools, a cosmetologist will need to attend an accredited beauty school for at least 1000 hours and pass a licensed state exam before they can practice at most salons.
Many other beauty care product distributors will have education and training, as well as experience in sales, marketing, or customer relations. Most beauty care distributor employers will include on the job training for their product distributors as a way to familiarize them with the product line and the company policies.
Many beauty care product distributors can advance their training through courses, conferences and trade shows across the globe. The Professional Beauty Association allows beauty care product distributors an opportunity to continuously connect, network and research contemporary beauty consumerism as a way to further their careers in the beauty industry. Belonging to a beauty care association and attending conferences and trade shows in the beauty industry is a great way to enhance selling and distribution potential.
Beauty Care Product Distributor Career and Salary
According to the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, beauty care suppliers can expect similar salaries to other professionals in the cosmetology industry. For 0-3 year’s experience, beauty care suppliers can expect to make $25,000 to $60,000 and this number increases with experience. Furthermore, because beauty care product distributors choose how much (or how little) they want to work, there is limitless potential when it comes to salary.
There are several job prospects out there for those interested in the field of beauty care. Home based consultants are able to sell beauty care products on their own time from their own homes. The distribution (and earning potential) depends entirely on the amount of time and effort put in. Many beauty care product distributors will choose to open a mall kiosk as a way to distribute their products to potential clients. Other beauty care product distributors choose to go door to door or office to office. Salon owners can work as beauty care product distributors by selling beauty products in their salons. With the right training, customer relations and passion for the product, an aspiring beauty care distributor can look forward to a promising future and a rewarding career choice.
